Cancer Support Community Central Ohio and Fairfield Medical Center Join Forces

Cancer Support Community Central Ohio and Fairfield Medical Center announced today a first of its kind partnership to deliver social and emotional support, as well as educational programming, to patients, family members and caregivers impacted by cancer.

This partnership couples more than 30 years of research and patient experience expertise of Cancer Support Community with the outstanding cancer care delivery model of FMC’s Cancer Care and Infusion Center to address the physical and emotional components of the cancer journey. The joint program addresses all types of cancer and at any stage.

“This is an exciting step forward for cancer care in Fairfield County and surrounding areas,” said John R. Janoso, Jr., FMC President and CEO. “Our partnership addresses the emotional side of fighting cancer and benefits not only the cancer patient, but that person’s full support network.”

The program will offer individual and family counseling, educational materials, resources and workshops to patients and families to ensure that no one faces cancer alone. All programs are managed and facilitated by licensed social workers and credentialed health experts.

In addition to implementing CancerSupportSource®, Cancer Support Community’s distress screening and intervention program, the partnership also will bring Cancer Support Community programs such as Frankly Speaking About Cancer®, Open to Options® and the Cancer Experience Registry® to its patients and families.

“As more and more people are diagnosed with cancer and living longer, the need for supportive services increases,” said Bev Soult, President and CEO of Cancer Support Community Central Ohio. “We’re proud to work with Fairfield Medical Center, who wants to ensure they are providing the best programs and services that benefit patients and families affected by any type of cancer.”

Fairfield Medical Center’s cancer program is designed to provide personalized, multi-disciplinary care that is compassionate and close to home. The cancer program is accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons and is focused on prevention, early diagnosis, cancer staging, optimal treatment, rehabilitation, life-long follow-up for recurrent disease and end-of-life care.
