Tonya Mundy Joins Fairfield Medical Heartburn Center

Tonya Mundy joins FMCThe Fairfield Medical Heartburn Center is pleased to welcome Tonya Mundy, R.N., into the role of nurse coordinator. In this role, Tonya will serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, Fairfield Medical Center and Legato Medical Systems. Tonya will meet with and provide free nurse consultations to every patient who comes to the Heartburn Center, which is located on the first floor of Fairfield Medical Center.

“I hope to bring a caring and compassionate approach, and to reassure each patient that I am here to educate and advocate for him or her,” Tonya said.

Tonya is a resident of Logan and a graduate of Logan High School and Hocking College School of Nursing. She has been a nurse for 14 years, 12 of which she has spent at Fairfield Medical Center, where she has worked in Med/Surg, Palliative Care and Endoscopy. Tonya also has managed two specialty clinics – abdominal wall reconstruction and migraine – under the direction of Jeffrey Janis, M.D. at OSU Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

The Fairfield Medical Heartburn Center opened in 2012 and is supported by a team of 10 multidisciplinary physicians who provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The Heartburn Center collaborates with Legato Medical Systems, the nation’s leader in heartburn center treatments. Patients do not need a referral to come to the Heartburn Center, where they will receive a free, one-on-one nurse consultation with Tonya.
